Prime Video Announces New Original Film, Culpa Mía

LONDON—18 May, 2022—Today, Prime Video announced Culpa Mía, an upcoming Original film based on Mercedes Ron’s best-selling Culpables trilogy (Culpa Mía, Culpa Tuya, Culpa Nuestra). The film will premiere exclusively in 2023 on Prime Video in over 240 countries and territories worldwide.

“We are thrilled to be able to adapt Culpa Mía—a story that has already taken Wattpad by storm and has won the hearts of thousands of people worldwide—for TV,” said Georgia Brown, head of European Amazon Originals, Amazon Studios. “It is also a privilege to be able to embark on this journey with a partner like Pokeepsie Films and work closely with creator Mercedes Ron.”

“It’s a dream to be able to see how Nick and Noah’s story comes to life,” stated Mercedes Ron, author of the Culpables trilogy. “This project is where everything started for me and it’s very special for my readers and me.”

Noah has to leave her town, boyfriend, and friends behind and move into the mansion of William Leister, her mother’s new rich husband. At the age of 17, Noah is proud and independent, and resists living in a mansion surrounded by luxury. There, she meets Nick, her new stepbrother, and the clash of their strong personalities becomes evident from the very beginning. Noah soon discovers that behind the image of a model son, Nick hides a life of fighting, gambling, and illegal car racing—exactly what she has always run away from. Despite the abyss between them, both begin to feel an irresistible attraction that will soon turn into pure fire and unbridled passion. Neither the ongoing rivalry, nor the opposition of those around them can prevent them from falling secretly and madly in love. But Nick’s turbulent present and Noah’s stormy past will put to a test both their lives and their forbidden love.

“Nick and Noah’s story captivated us from the very beginning and we are sure that Prime Video’s audience will feel the same way. The story has the perfect combination to keep us on the edge of our seats: a forbidden teenage love story, illegal racing, luxury, and two main characters that will steal your heart,” said Maria Jose Rodriguez, head of Spanish Amazon Originals, Amazon Studios. “We are happy to have Mercedes and the Pokeepsie team with us to tell a story that lives up to the expectations of all current and future fans of this successful trilogy.”

“Pokeepsie Films spirit has always been true to our idea of boosting new talent that wants to tell stories in a different way,” assured Carolina Bang and Álex de la Iglesia, Pokeepsie Films partners. “We’re thrilled to be able to explore a new genre in collaboration with Prime Video, bringing to life a a story as original and fresh as her author, Mercedes Ron, who has managed to engage thousands of young people around the wolrd. It’s impossible not to be encaptured by Nick and Noah’s characters, and as production company, we want to be part of this long-term project, transforming Mercedes’ first novel into a powerful experience with all the visual force to make it—if possible—even bigger.”
